English Game Session - Discrimination and Stigma

#WeekAgainstRacism #NoDiscrimination #ForTolerance

On the 23d of March at the Mykolaiv WoA there was a special English Game Session dedicated to the European Action Week Against Racism. Our participant (9 people) got to know what "STIGMA" and "DISCRIMINATION" are and came up with some examples working in groups. They also were playing games which showed them how differently we can interpret the same information and how uncomfortable it is to be thrown out of the group. We were also singing a song and dancing as an energizer. In addition, we watched and discussed a video about people being divided into groups and having lots in common at the same time.

Our leader was Nastia O.

The International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination is observed annually on the 21st of March. On that day, in 1960, police opened fire and killed 69 people at a peaceful demonstration in Sharpeville, South Africa, against the apartheid pass laws. Proclaiming the day in 1966, the United Nations General Assembly called on the international community to redouble its efforts to eliminate all forms of racial discrimination.
