English Speaking Club

Mykolaiv Window on America Center had the English Speaking Club оn the 30th of September.The club was dedicated to Library`s day!

Our visitors told about their vision a modern and creative library, servises that they would you like to have in library. Also everyone told about their reasons of visiting libraries. Moreover participants discussed the advantages of printed and electronic books, the influence of the Internet on the activity of libraries. Also they told about foreign libraries that they have ever visited!

Also they told about their favorite books and authors, what they learned and what lessons they have had from books.
Participants decided that libraries, books are very important in our World.

English Class for Kids

Mykolaiv Window on America Center had the English Class for Kids on the 30th of September.
At the begining of the lesson children told about themselves and said each other hello. Than they repeated words and checked homework. 
After that they contined to learn a topic "Hobbies". 
Children learnt new words which dedicated to the topic and played "Spoiled phone". 
Veronika and Tatiyana, students from Foreign Philology Department of Mykolaiv National Universsity named after V. 
Suchomlynskyi  were leaders and 11 children took part in this lesson.

America from the source!

On September 27, in the framework of the celebration of the All-Ukrainian Day of Libraries and the Open Doors Day, the Library Resource Center "Window on America" ​​conducted the "lively" library "America from the source".

During the event, the participants took part in the "Question and Answer" session with the participant of the Fulbright Academic Exchanges Program 2018-2019, film director Andrea Odeszynska (USA), who spoke about her cinematic experience and research that she  will conduct in Ukraine on the basis of the Petro Mogyla Black Sea National University.

Also, the participants took part in a short Skype communication with Alyona Pavlenko (Ukraine), a member of the Fulbright Academic Exchanges Program 2016-2018 and a volunteer at the Library Resource Center "Window on  America", which described the peculiarities of learning and its research and the basis of one of the Massachusetts Universities. Alyona also shared her work experience with a company in Texas that develops and installs solar panels.

In addition, the participants presented a picturesque exhibition of photographs of the participants of the academic exchanges of different years "The USA and Ukraine by the eyes of Fulbrighters".
26 participants took part in this event.

English Movie Club!

Mykolaiv Window on America Center had the English Movie Club on the 26th of September.

Our visitors were watching  and discussing  a 2004 American action and comedy film directed by Peter Winther "The Librarian: Quest for the Spear ". This movie about a "professional student" lands a truly remarkable job in this witty made-for-TV fantasy adventure. Flynn Carsen  is a 30-year-old graduate student who has managed to collect a whopping 22 university degrees; despite his brilliance, shy Flynn seems to have a hard time with the real world, and his mentor at school finally has him expelled so he can start putting his knowledge to work. Things are not much better for him at home, where his mother, Margie , wants him to meet a nice girl and settle down on his own. Needing a job, Flynn finds an unexpected opening with the New York.

English Class for Beginners!

Mykolaiv Window on America Center had the English Class for Beginners on the 26th of September. 

At the beginig of the lesson our students told stories about their last
week. 
After that they continued learned a topic "Shoping".
Together with a teacher they focused on new words and 
the practiced in dialogues to bought something, a little focused on new words 
and phrases which are used in different shops and supermarkets.

Also they had a short discussion how technologies help them in 

learning English! 

Nasiba was a leader and 25 people took part in this lesson.

English Uno Party!

Mykolaiv Window on America Center had the English Uno Party on the 25th of September with our good American friend and volunteer Thomas R.
If you like to play games and to practice English - this game is  for you!

English Class for Beginners!

Mykolaiv Window on America Center had the English Class for Beginners on the 25th of September. 

At the beginig of the lesson our  students told each other hello and

told stories how they spent last weekand.

After that they reapeted the English alphabet and had a new topic

"Rules for reading letters in English" and practice a lot. 

Also they played in interesting games.

Elena P. was a leader and 24 people took part in this lesson.

English Speaking Club!

Mykolaiv Window on America Center had the English Speaking Club оn the 23rd of September.

The topic was “Teamwork!” with our volunteer Vlad. We talked about teamwork and team values on real cases. We discussed teamwark in Star Wars, Vinnie The Pooh, The Wizard of Emiral Isle. Questions discussed: 1. What makes a great team. 2. Values of a great team. 3. Roles in a team.
