«Волонтери мають талант»

9 грудня у бібліотечному ресурсному центр «Вікно в Америку» відбулося талант-шоу «Волонтери мають талант», що був приурочений до Міжнародного дня волонтера. На свято завітали __ волонтерів Центру, серед яких випускники програм для майбутніх лідерів FLEX, студенти миколаївських вищих навчальних закладів. За плідну працю та активну підтримку діяльності Центру три нових волонтери отримали Сертифікати Подяки від Посольства США в Україні. Інші учасники отримали невеличкі подарунки на пам'ять.

Під час заходу учасники переглянули та обговорили короткі відеоролики англійською мовою «Переваги волонтерства» та «Чому волонтерство є важливим?», переглянули відеопривітання від волонтерів Яни Алімової та Олега Попова, які зараз перебувають за волонтерськими програмами у Литві та Польщі.

Оскільки наші волонтери є дуже творчими людьми та є представниками України, США, Мексики, Таджикистану, то ми почули від них власне написані вірщі та  вірші різних поетів про волонтерство, кохання, життя російською, англійською та таджицькою мовами, пісні англійською та іспанською мовами.

Наприкінці присутні обговорили результати волонтерської діяльності та плани на майбутнє. Сподіваємося, що плідна співпраця Центру і волонтерів буде тривати і надалі, а коло волонтерів розширюватиметься.

Presentation of the Foundation for the Promotion of Democracy of the US Embassy

On December 5, the expert of the Foundation Sergey Reshetov held a presentation of the Foundation for the Promotion of Democracy of the US Embassy in Ukraine in the library resource center "Window on America".

The event was attended by public figures, activists, heads of public organizations and charitable foundations and other interested persons working in the areas of civil society development, transparency of government bodies, public support of educational initiatives, counteraction to trafficking in human beings, and the development of the electoral system etc.

During the event participants learned about the work of the Democracy Facility, the main requirements for projects, the rules and deadlines for filing and reviewing applications, etc.

All participants had the opportunity to ask questions and get a detailed answer to them.

English Mafia Party

Mykolaiv Window on America Center had the English Mafia Party on the 4th of December with our good American friend and volunteer Thomas R.

English Class for Beginners

Mykolaiv Window on America Center had the English Class for Beginners on the 4th of December. 

At the beginig of the lesson our students reapeeted usage of 
demonstrative pronouns.
After that participants learned a new topic "Present Simple Tense"
and did a lot of grammar exercises related to the topic. 

Elena was a leader and 20  people took part in this lesson.

English Speaking Club

Mykolaiv Window on America Center had the English Speaking Club оn the 2nd of December.

Together with our leader Vlad visitors discussed a topic "Christmas".

They discussed the following questions:
- What`s Christmas?;
- What`s Christmas for you?;
- Do you believe in Santa? What do you know of history of Santa?;
- What do you think of when you think of Christmas?;
- What presents did you get for last Christmas? etc.
16 people took part in this speaking club.

English Class for Kids

Mykolaiv Window on America Center had the English Class for Kids on the 2nd of December.

At the begining of the lesson children told about themselves and said each other hello. They repeated words and phrases from the topic "Clothes". 

After that children learned new words and phraseswhich dedicated to the topic "Body" and played interesting games "Ball game", "Broken phone". Also they had dialogues with each other.  
Masha, student from Foreign Philology Department of Mykolaiv National Universsity named after V. Suchomlynskyi was a leader and 13 children took part in this lesson.

«Достовірність і точність інформації медіа: кому, чому і коли варто вірити»

29 листопада у бібліотечному ресурсному центрі "Вікно в Америку"  у рамках реалізації проекту «Людина Медіа Грамотна» відбулася дискусія «Достовірність  і точність інформації медіа: кому, чому і коли варто вірити».

Під час заходу учасники обговорили  чи варто довіряти всій тій інформації, яку ми зустрічаємо щодня у мережі Інтернет, чуємо по телебаченню. Були обговорені і правила перевірки джерел та авторів інформації, які наслідки для суспільства та окремих людей можуть нести за собою перекручування, виривання фраз із контексту, додавання до прямої мови слів, які не відповідають переконанням респондентів тощо.

Окрім того, присутні ознайомилися з можливостями сайту stopfake та правилами перевірки фото та відеоконтентів на достовірність.

Наприкінці заходу, учасники дійшли висновку, що в умовах сьогодення надважливо володіти навичками перевірки інформації на достовірність і точність та не бути об'єктами маніпуляції.

"The credibility and accuracy of media information: to whom, why and when it is necessary to believe"

On November 29, in the framework of the Human Media Literacy project, the discussion on "Reliability and accuracy of media information: to whom, why and when it is necessary to believe" was held in the library resource center "Window on America".

During the event, the participants discussed whether to trust all the information that we meet every day on the Internet, we hear on television. Participants also discussed the rules for verifying sources and authors of information, which consequences for society and individuals may entail distortion, the removal of phrases from the context, the addition of words in the direct language that do not correspond to the convictions of respondents, etc.

In addition, the participants were introduced to the features of the site stopfake and the rules for verifying photo and video content for authenticity.

At the end of the event, the participants came to the conclusion that in today's conditions it is imperative to have the skills of checking information for accuracy and not be objects of manipulation.
