English Class for Beginners

Mykolaiv Window on America Center had the English Class for Beginners on the 13th of December. 

At the beginig of the lesson our students told about their last week and read their dialogues.

After that participants learned idioms of American English! 

Also visotors watched and discussed several videos which were created ukrainiains during a storytelling workshop at America Housу and dedicated to the Int’l Anti-Corruption Day.

English Game Session

Window on America Center had the English Game Session the оn the 13th of December.

Our visitors played a lot of interesting games such us "Gallery walk", "Job skills", "Strange Jobs".

English Class for Beginners

Mykolaiv Window on America Center had the English Class for Beginners on the 12th of December. 

At the beginig of the lesson our students told about their las week.
After that participants knew many interesting about traditions of 
celebration Christmas and New Year in the USA. Also they learned 
new phrases and words related to the winter holidays. 

Nasiba was a leader and 14  people took part in this lesson.

English Movie Club

Mykolaiv Window on America Center had the English Movie Club on the 12th of December.
Our visitors were watching  and discussing  a 2002 American action thriller film directed by Andrew Davis and starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Elias Koteas, Francesca Neri, Cliff Curtis, John Leguizamo and John Turturro. The film was released in the United States on February 8, 2002.
The film tells the story of Los Angeles firefighter, Gordon Brewer (Arnold Schwarzenegger), who seeks to avenge his son and wife's death at the hands of a guerrilla commando, by traveling to Colombia and facing his family's killers. The original script for the film had the same plotline but would have addressed American policy in the Middle East by taking place in Libya; director Davis and his screenwriters chose Colombia as the new location because it had not been used as extensively and touched on a current geopolitical conflict area. Noted anti-war activist Stan Goff was hired as a consultant but later described the film as horrible and stated that taking on the job was the worst mistake he had ever made.
This event was dedicated to the International Anti-Corruption Day.

English Mafia Party

Mykolaiv Window on America Center had the English Mafia Party on the 11th of December with our good American friend and volunteer Thomas R.

English Book Club

Mykolaiv Window on America Center had the English Book Club with a Peace Corps volunteer Melanie Graham on the 10th of December.

Our participants discussed a book "The Proxy Marriage" by Maile Meloy. It was originally published in the May 21, 2012 issue of The New Yorker.
The Proxy Marriage” focuses on the love that William, an awkward and shy boy, has for Bridey Taylor, a confident singer who wants to become an actress.

English Speaking Club

On the 9th of December, the Mykolaiv Window on America Center held a regular English Speaking Club
Our visitirs discussed the topic "Crime and punishment".
The speaker and leader - Dmytro Burdenko, a 2017-2018 FLEX alumnus - explained to the audience the main concepts about crimes and the various criminal justice systems across the world. Afterwards, he had the attendees debate on questions he prepared about the topic.
