English Class for Kids

Mykolaiv Window on America Center had the English Class for Kids on the 13th of January.

Today children told how they spent winter holidays and what presents they found under the Christmas tree.
After that they studied a new topic "School supplies" and new phrases and words relaited to the topic.
Larisa S. was a leader and 8 children took part in this lesson.

English Movie Club

Mykolaiv Window on America Center had the English Movie Club on the 9th of January.
Our visitors were watching  and discussing  a 1991 American romantic comedy-drama film "Сurly Sue".
This film was written, produced, and directed by John Hughes, and stars Jim Belushi, Kelly Lynch and Alisan Porter in the title role. The film's music was composed by Georges Delerue, along with the end title song "You Never Know" performed by Ringo Starr.
It marked Steve Carell's film debut. This was the last film that Hughes wrote and directed himself and the only film he directed to be released in the 1990s.

English Game Session

Window on America Center had the English Game Session the оn the 3rd of January.

Our visitors played a lot of interesting games relaited to the New Year and Chtistmas!
If you like to practise your English and play game - this event is for you!

English Speaking Club

On the 23rd of December, the Mykolaiv Window on America Center held a regular English Speaking Club.
Our visitirs discussed the topic "Stress and how do deal with it. Holidays as the best medicine.”

The speaker and leader Vlada Zh. together with visitors considered various tips on how to cope with stress, how to identify the sources of stress in your life, how to avoid unnecessary stress (learn how to say "no", avoid people  who stress you out, take control of your enviroment, pare down your to - do list). Also participants discussed how we can adapt to the stressor and how holidays can help to deal with stress.

English Movie Club

Mykolaiv Window on America Center had the English Movie Club on the 19th of December.
Our visitors were watching  and discussing  a is a 2004 American 3D computer-animated film "The Polar Express" based on the 1985 children's book of the same name by Chris Van Allsburg, who also served as one of the executive producers on the film. Directed, co-written and co-produced by Robert Zemeckis, the film features human characters animated using live action motion capture animation.

The film stars Daryl Sabara, Nona Gaye, Jimmy Bennett, and Eddie Deezen, with Tom Hanks in six distinct roles. The film also included a performance by Tinashe at age 9, who later gained exposure as a pop singer in the 2010s, as the CGI-model for the female protagonist.

Castle Rock Entertainment produced the film in association with Shangri-La Entertainment, ImageMovers, Playtone, and Golden Mean for Warner Bros. Pictures, as Castle Rock's first animated production. The visual effects and performance capture were done at Sony Pictures Imageworks. The film was made with a budget of $165 million, a record-breaking sum for an animated feature at the time.
The film was released in both conventional and IMAX 3D theaters on November 10, 2004. It grossed $310.6 million worldwide, and was later listed in the 2006 Guinness World Book of Records as the first all-digital capture film. The film also marks Michael Jeter's last acting role before his death, and the film was thus dedicated to his memory.

English Speaking Club

Mykolaiv Window on America Center held a regular English Speaking Club on the 14th of December.
Our visitirs discussed the topic "Bitcoin. Cryptocurrency"
The speaker and leader - Dirk Wagner told participants what is a bitcoin, a history of their occurrence and bitcoin principles.
After that visitors descussed the following questions:
- Is bitcoin real money?;
- Сan we buy goods with bitcoin?;
- Did you purchase items?;
- How does Bitcoin Wallet work?
- What is betcoin mining?;
- What is a financial pyramid? and others?

English Class for Kids

Mykolaiv Window on America Center had the English Class for Kids on the 16th of December.

Today children`ve repeated phrases and words from topics which they`ve already learned.
They`ve played a lot of inetesting games.

Tetyana and Veronica, students from Foreign Philology Department of Mykolaiv National Universsity named after V. Suchomlynskyi were leaders and 11 children took part in this lesson.
